Best free AI selfie generator: we tried 13 shoots and cities on 4 people
One selfie in, new photos of you out: on a red carpet, in Paris, beside a tiger. We tested thirteen looks on four people and share the prompts.
The best free AI selfie generator is the one that keeps your face your own while it changes the outfit, the place and the light. Ours does that from one selfie: pick a shoot or a city in our AI selfie generator and get four photos in a couple of minutes. We tested thirteen of them on four people.
A note before the comparison: we make one of these tools, and it is the only one we tested ourselves. For the others, every claim below comes from their own pages, linked where it appears and checked the day this guide went live.
Four selfies of adults: a woman with long straight hair, a woman with coily hair, a man with wavy hair and stubble, and a man with short straight hair. Each got the eight shoots of the Shoots tab, and two of them the five cities of the Travel tab: 42 runs of 81 to 171 seconds, four pictures each; one run was refused by the provider. Every picture kept the person's face, hair and skin tone. Three faults: the Vintage film shoot came back as a plain phone photo in 16 of 16; the wedding, tiger and aurora shoots stood the person full length with a small face in 43 of 48; one red carpet printed a premiere banner. We changed those five prompts the same day and ran them again, 20 runs: a film look in every Vintage film picture, the wedding and tiger shoots from the waist up in all, the aurora in nearly all, and no lettering on the red carpet.

Questions and answers
Is there a free AI selfie generator?
Yes. Ours is free to start with no subscription, Magic Hour gives a few free selfies a day without an account, and Dreamina gives daily free credits.
Will the AI selfie still look like me?
It should. In our test every picture kept the person's face, hair and skin tone; only the outfit, the place and the light change.
Can I make an AI selfie with a celebrity?
Not on ours: a photo with a well-known public figure, or with more than one face, is refused, and every picture shows you alone.
Can people tell my selfie was made with AI?
Sometimes. Gemini can find Google's SynthID watermark in pictures made with Google's tools, and close looks at hair and small details can give a picture away.
What happens to the selfie I upload?
On ours, it is used only for the run and deleted when the run ends; the pictures stay in your Generations until you delete them.
