The same cliff at dusk made twice. First the still, then the clip made from it with image to video AI, where the prompt only describes the motion. Last, the clip made from words alone, where the prompt describes the whole scene.

A whitewashed cottage with glowing windows on a grassy sea cliff at dusk, waves breaking on the rocks below a violet and orange sky

Cliff cottage at dusk, the still

Nano Banana

A photorealistic vertical wide shot of a small whitewashed lighthouse keeper's cottage standing on the edge of a grassy sea cliff at dusk. Warm amber light glows from its two small windows. Far below, dark blue waves break against the rocks in white foam. The sky fades from deep violet overhead to a thin band of orange at the horizon, with soft scattered clouds. A few gulls hang in the air near the cliff. No people. Calm, quiet, cinematic mood, natural colours.

Seedance

The waves below roll in and break against the rocks, white foam spreading and pulling back. The window light flickers softly. Clouds drift slowly to the right across the dusk sky. Two gulls glide past the cliff and bank away. Static camera.

One clip, four prompts

The same shot written four ways, from one line to a full brief. Each step shows what the added words changed in the clip.

  1. Step 1 · Minimal
    5 s

one line: who and what, nothing else

    A barista makes latte art.

  2. Step 2 · Structured
    5 s

    adds the shot: a close-up

Close-up shot of a barista making latte art.

  3. Step 3 · Pro
    5 s

names the barista and every move of the pour, in order

Close-up shot of a young barista with short dark hair and a green apron, focused expression. He tilts a white cup of espresso, lowers a steel milk jug close to the surface, pours a thin stream of steamed milk, wiggles the jug gently from side to side, then lifts it and draws a line through the middle to finish a heart.

  4. Step 4 · Polished
    5 s

adds the cafe, the light, the heart forming and a slow push in

Close-up shot of a young barista with short dark hair and a green apron, focused expression, in a small cafe with wooden counters and plants. Warm morning sunlight comes through the window beside him. He tilts a white cup of espresso, lowers a steel milk jug close to the surface, pours a thin stream of steamed milk and wiggles the jug gently from side to side; the white foam spreads across the brown crema and folds into a heart. The camera slowly pushes in toward the cup. Photorealistic.

Camera movement prompts, one move per clip

Pan, tilt, zoom, orbit, tracking and a static camera, each named once at the end of the prompt with its speed and direction. Copy the move you need into any prompt in the AI video generator.

5 s

Camera pan, street market

Seedance

A busy outdoor street market in the morning: stalls piled with oranges, peppers and fresh bread under striped awnings, shoppers walking between them, sellers handing over paper bags. Soft warm sunlight. The camera pans slowly from left to right along the row of stalls at eye level. Photorealistic.

5 s

Camera tilt, glass tower

Seedance

A tall glass skyscraper on a clear afternoon, its windows reflecting blue sky and passing clouds. The camera starts at street level on the entrance and tilts slowly upward along the glass facade until it reaches the top of the tower against the sky. Photorealistic.

5 s

Camera zoom, finish line

Seedance

A young runner crossing a finish line on a city road, sweat on her forehead, breathing hard, then breaking into a tired smile. Late afternoon light, blurred crowd behind her. The camera starts on a medium shot and zooms in slowly to a close-up of her face. Photorealistic.

5 s

Camera orbit, perfume bottle

Seedance

A plain glass perfume bottle with amber liquid standing on a rough grey stone slab, soft studio light, a dark background. Light glints and moves across the glass as the camera orbits slowly and smoothly around the bottle in a half circle. Photorealistic product shot.

5 s

Tracking shot, coastal cyclist

Seedance

A cyclist in a red jersey rides along a winding coastal road above a blue sea on a sunny morning, legs pushing steadily on the pedals. The camera tracks alongside him at the same speed, keeping him in the middle of the frame as the sea and cliffs slide past behind. Photorealistic.

5 s

Static camera, spinning dancer

Seedance

A dancer in a flowing white dress spins on the spot in the middle of an empty wooden studio, the skirt lifting and swirling around her, then settling as she slows. Soft daylight from tall windows. Static camera, locked off, wide shot. Photorealistic.

Prompts for realistic motion

Motion looks real when the prompt says what causes it and what happens next: syrup is poured, pools, spreads, soaks in and drips. Write each stage in order and Seedance plays them in order.

5 s

Syrup on pancakes, cause and effect

Seedance

A stack of golden pancakes on a white plate on a kitchen table in soft morning light. Thick amber syrup is poured slowly onto the top pancake; it pools in the middle, spreads out to the edges, soaks in, and runs down the sides in slow drips that gather on the plate. Close-up, static camera. Photorealistic.

How to write a video prompt that works

Write it in this order: the subject, the action, the scene, the camera, the style. Give a 5 second clip one main action and break it into the moves you would see, in order. Name one camera move with its speed and direction. For image to video, skip what the picture already shows and describe only what moves. End with the look, such as photorealistic, and the mood.

Our guide on how to write AI video prompts covers each part with the clips above, from camera moves to prompt length.

Questions about AI video prompts

Short answers on writing prompts that move the way you meant.

For a 5 second clip, two to five sentences: who, what they do, where, how the camera moves and the look. The latte art ladder above shows how each added sentence changes the clip.

Text to video builds the whole scene from your words. Image to video starts from a picture you give it, so the prompt only needs the motion: what moves, how, and what the camera does.

Name one move and say how it goes: the camera pans slowly from left to right, or tilts up from the entrance to the top. Put it near the end of the prompt and keep to one move per clip.

Describe cause and effect in order. Instead of syrup on pancakes, write that it is poured, pools in the middle, spreads to the edges and runs down the sides. Slow, physical steps read as real.

Plain sentences in the order subject, action, scene, camera, style, with one main action per clip. Every clip on this page was made with Seedance from the prompt shown beside it.

Too much is happening for the length of the clip. Cut it to one main action, drop extra characters and camera moves, and make the next clip continue from where this one ends.

A sharp still with room for movement: water, sky, hair or cloth that can move, and a subject not cut off by the frame. Use the same aspect ratio you want for the clip.

Start from the prompt here closest to your idea and keep its order. Swap the subject and the scene, keep the camera line, and you have a new prompt that already works.
