What is the best free AI cartoon generator in 2026?
Pick one that keeps you recognisable and adds nothing you did not ask for. We made 128 cartoons of four people to see where ours slips.
One of the best free AI cartoon generators in 2026 is N33: add one photo and get yourself as a 3D cartoon, a caricature or a toy figure, four takes a run. We ran eight of its styles on four people, found 13 flaws in 128 pictures and fixed the prompt the same day: the 3D cartoons now come out clean in 62 of 64.
A note before the comparison: we make one of these tools, and it is the only one we tested ourselves. For the others, every claim below comes from their own pages, linked where it appears and checked the day this guide went live.
Four portraits of adults: a woman with long straight hair, a woman with coily hair, a man with wavy hair and a man with short straight hair. Each got eight styles: the four 3D cartoon styles (3D movie, clay, toy and TV cartoon), two caricatures (classic and big head) and two figures (blister pack and chibi), 32 runs of 61 to 101 seconds and 128 pictures. All 128 kept the person recognisable and the same age, and all 16 blister packs and figure bases were free of brands and lettering. The first run had 13 flaws: letter-like marks on the book spines of 3 toy scenes, glasses on 3 pictures of people who wear none, a face left almost photographic in 3 cartoons of the same woman, black bars on 2, a jacket added to 1, and coily hair drawn straight on 1 chibi figure. We changed the cartoon prompt and ran the four 3D styles again: 62 of 64 came out clean, against 52 of 64 before; one clay scene still had a black bar and one toy face stayed half photographic.

Can you make a cartoon from text instead of a photo?
How do you get the best cartoon of yourself?
Glasses and facial hair in your photo are kept; glasses you do not wear appeared on 3 of our first 128 pictures and on none after the fix, but check before you save. The characters are original designs, not copies of a known film or show, and the figure packaging is plain, so the picture is yours to use as a profile photo or a card.

Questions and answers
Is there a free AI cartoon generator?
Yes. Ours is free to start with no subscription, and CapCut and Fotor both say their photo cartoonizers are free.
Will the cartoon still look like me?
It should. In our test all 128 pictures kept the person recognisable and the same age; the style changes, the face shape, hair and clothes stay.
Can it turn me into a Disney or Pixar character?
Ours draws an original character in a 3D animated film style, not a copy of a character from a real film or show.
Can I cartoon a photo of my child?
Not on ours: every photo goes through an age check, and a photo that shows a child or a teenager is refused.
What happens to the photo I upload?
On ours, it is used only for the run and deleted when the run ends; the cartoons stay in your Generations until you delete them.
