Free AI Prompt Generator Better Prompts From a Rough Idea

Write what you want in a few words. The prompt generator turns it into a detailed prompt with subject, style, format and constraints, ready for an image model, a video model or another chat.

What an AI prompt generator does

An AI prompt generator is a chat model asked to write instructions for another model. You give it a rough idea, like "a cozy cafe at night", and it returns a full prompt: the subject, the setting, the light, the camera angle, the style and what to leave out. For a text task it adds the role, the audience, the format of the answer and the length.

It works because models reward detail. A short prompt leaves every choice to the model, so the result is average. A generated prompt makes those choices on purpose, and you can read it, change one word and run it again. Use it to write prompts for the AI image generator, for the AI video generator, or for any task in the chat itself.

The best way to use it is as a conversation. Ask for a prompt, run it, then come back and say what went wrong: "the colors are too dark", "the answer is too long", "the camera moves too fast". The generator rewrites the prompt with that fix in mind, and after two or three rounds you have a prompt you can save and reuse for similar work.

Weak prompt vs strong prompt

The same three requests, before and after the prompt generator.

Weak prompt

Image: "A dog in a park."

Video: "A city at night."

Chat: "Write a blog post about sleep."

Strong prompt

Image: "A golden retriever puppy leaping for a red ball in a sunlit park, low camera angle, shallow depth of field, warm late-afternoon light, photorealistic, no people in frame."

Video: "Slow drone shot gliding over a rainy city street at night, neon signs reflecting in puddles, cars passing below, cinematic, steady camera, 10 seconds."

Chat: "You are a sleep coach. Write a 600-word blog post for night-shift workers on falling asleep during the day. Use 5 subheadings, plain language, and end with a checklist."

Prompt templates

Six templates to fill in yourself, or to paste into the chat with your idea and let the AI complete them.

1
Image
Photo-style image

[Subject] doing [action] in [setting], [time of day and light], [camera angle and lens], [mood], photorealistic, no [what to avoid].

Good for product shots, portraits and scenes that should look like a photograph.

2
Image
Illustration or art style

[Subject] in the style of [medium: watercolor, flat vector, oil painting, 3D render], [color palette], [composition], [background], [level of detail].

Name a medium rather than a living artist; it gives more control over the look.

3
Video
Short video scene

[Scene] with [main subject], [camera movement: slow pan, dolly in, drone], [lighting], [mood], [length in seconds], [what should happen from start to end].

Describe one continuous shot. Short clips handle one action better than a sequence of events.

4
Chat
Expert answer

You are [role with experience]. Explain [topic] to [audience]. Use [format: steps, table, bullets]. Keep it under [length]. Point out [common mistakes or risks].

5
Chat
Writing task

Write a [type of text] for [audience] about [topic]. Tone: [tone]. Length: [words]. Must include: [points]. Avoid: [phrases or topics]. Here is an example of the style I like: [example].

Prompt that writes prompts

Ask me up to five questions about what I want, one at a time. Then write the final prompt for [image, video or chat] using my answers, and list the choices you made.

Useful when you are not sure what you want yet: the AI interviews you first.

Keep the prompts that work. Save each prompt that gave you a good result in a note, with a line on what it was for. Next time, paste it into the chat and ask for the same prompt with a new subject. A personal library of ten proven prompts beats a list of a thousand you have never tried.

How fast do the free models write a prompt?

We sent one request, image prompt from a rough idea, to each free model on 9 October 2026. GPT-5.6 Luna finished first, Claude Haiku 4.5 wrote the longest answer. Every model wrote a usable prompt; pick by the voice you like.

Prompt generator FAQ

What people ask about writing and generating AI prompts.

Say what you want, who or what it is for, and what the result should look like: the subject, the style, the format and the length. Add what to avoid. Or type a rough idea into the chat above and ask it to write the full prompt for you.

Any strong chat model can write good prompts when you tell it which tool the prompt is for. On N33 you can ask GPT, Claude and Grok models for the same prompt and keep the version that gives the best result.

Use the free models on this page: GPT-5.6 Luna, Claude Haiku 4.5 and Grok 4.5 write prompts without an account, within a daily limit. The six templates above are free to copy as well.

There is no fixed list that works for everyone. The prompts that work are specific to a task. Start from the templates on this page, fill in your own details, and save the ones that give you good results.

On N33, GPT-5.6 Luna, Claude Haiku 4.5 and Grok 4.5 are free in the chat, with a daily limit for guests. Making the image or video from the prompt uses energy, a video more than an image, and a free account gets energy to start.

Well-known patterns include "Act as a [role]", "Explain it like I am five", "Think step by step" and "Ask me questions before you answer". They are popular because each one fixes a common weakness: missing context, too much jargon, rushed reasoning or a vague request. All four are built into the templates above.

An image prompt describes what the picture should look like: subject, setting, light, camera, style. A chat prompt describes a task: the role, the audience, the format and the length. On N33 the image models take a text prompt only, so everything you want in the picture has to be in the words.

Yes. A prompt is plain text, so you can paste it into any image, video or chat tool. Tell the AI which tool it is for, because some expect short keyword lists and others prefer full sentences.
