What will my baby look like?
You can get as close as a picture allows. Our free AI baby generator takes one photo of each parent and shows a kid who gets each trait from one of you: your eyes, their curls, or the other way round.
Nobody can show you exactly. Eyes, hair and skin come from many genes plus chance, faces even more so, and an AI baby generator draws a possibility, not a forecast.
Some of it you can guess, most of it you can't. Your baby's eye colour, hair and skin tone will come from the two of you, but each is set by many genes at once, and which versions your child inherits is chance. The face is harder still: geneticists cannot predict it from DNA today, let alone from two selfies. What an AI baby generator gives you is a picture of one way your features could combine, which is fun, and not a forecast.
Can you predict what a baby will look like from the parents?
| Trait | What the research says | Can you predict it from the parents? |
|---|---|---|
| Eye colour | Polygenic: HERC2 matters most, with SLC45A2, TYRP1, TYR and others | Partly. Two brown-eyed parents can have a blue-eyed baby |
| Hair colour | Many genes; red hair is tied mostly to MC1R, with ASIP and others | Partly. Light hair often darkens as children grow |
| Skin tone | Highly polygenic: a few large-effect genes and many small ones | Partly, as a range rather than a shade |
| Face shape | Hundreds of genes; heritability of facial measurements is 28% to 67% | No. Current DNA models explain 10–20% of facial variation |

Eye colour is the trait parents ask about most, and it is not the simple brown-beats-blue rule from school biology. A 2026 study in Scientific Reports calls it "a polygenic trait", and a pediatrician-reviewed guide notes that iris colour doesn't follow a simple dominant-recessive pattern. It also keeps moving after birth: most of the change happens in the first six to nine months, colour usually settles by about 9 months, and subtle shifts can continue until age 2 or 3.
Hair works the same way. MC1R is the gene most strongly linked to red hair, and DNA-based prediction tools lean on it heavily: in one 2026 study, dropping the MC1R markers cut red-hair prediction accuracy from 0.92 to 0.65 AUC. But many other genes are involved, and hormones can darken blonde hair as children get older, so the baby you meet may not keep the hair colour they are born with.
Can genes or AI predict my baby's face?
Faces clearly run in families, but no single gene draws a nose. A 2026 review in Genes describes facial shape as governed by hundreds of genes and calls today's prediction models "research-grade" and not forensically deployable. A final report for the US National Institute of Justice, published in March 2026, measured heritability of facial traits between 28% and 67% and warned that sex, age and environment play major roles, which it said raises concerns about tests that claim to predict a face from DNA. If a DNA lab can't do it, a photo app can't either.
Will my newborn look like the picture?
So the first photos are the worst place to look for a resemblance. Molding of the head usually goes away in the days after birth, and the eye colour you see in the delivery room is often not the one your child keeps.
What does an AI baby generator actually do?
These apps are popular: the most-installed baby generator we found on Google Play lists more than 1 million downloads. The honest ones say what they are. Another listing with over 500,000 downloads states that it is "for entertainment purposes only" and that results "may not reflect real-life outcomes". That is the right way to read every one of them, ours included.
Higher is more different. Two unrelated adults scored 96.1; kids made by blending both parents' faces, even from two different couples, scored only 20.8.
| Pair of faces | Distance (higher is more different) |
|---|---|
| Two unrelated adults | 96.1 |
| Two kids of one couple, each trait taken from one parent | 38.7 |
| Kids of two different couples, both made by blending the parents | 20.8 |
Perceptual hash distance on greyscale faces resized to 400×400, so colour and size cannot carry the comparison.
We measured why most baby generators feel samey. When we built our own, we first tried blending both parents into one face, and the kids of two completely different couples came out only 20.8 apart, closer than two runs with no parents at all. Blending pulls every couple towards the same average face. Dealing each trait to one parent instead, eyes from one, curls from the other, made two kids of the same couple 38.7 apart: a different child each time, the way real siblings differ.
Is it safe to upload our photos to a baby generator?
The risk is not hypothetical. In February 2026 an Android AI photo and video app left more than 1.5 million user images in a storage bucket anyone could open. In April 2026 the AI company Clarifai deleted 3 million photos it said it had got from OkCupid to train facial recognition. One baby app's own Google Play label says "Data isn't encrypted". Faces are biometric data; treat them that way.
Whatever app you use, upload only photos of adults who agreed to it, never photos of children, and check that you can delete the result. In our generator the portrait goes to your Generations, where you can delete it at any time.
How do you try an AI baby generator on N33?
Our AI baby generator deals every trait to one parent instead of blending you, so you can argue about whose nose it is. Generate again and you meet a different kid. If you like one, bring the portrait to life with image to video AI, or ask Grok, free in our chat without an account, for names that suit the kid you just met.
Want to take the kid further than a portrait? Describe them in one line, say a curly-haired seven-year-old who wants to be an astronaut, and the AI character generator gives them a name, a look, a personality and a backstory, with a portrait drawn to match. You can keep the card or start a chat with them.
Questions and answers
Can two brown-eyed parents have a blue-eyed baby?
Yes. Eye colour depends on several genes, and parents can carry versions they don't show, so two brown-eyed parents sometimes have a blue-eyed baby.
When does a baby's eye colour become permanent?
Usually by about 9 months, with very small changes possible until age 2 or 3. About 15% of people see their eye colour change throughout life.
Will my baby's hair stay the same colour?
Often not. Hormones can make blonde hair darker as children get older, so early hair colour is a poor guide.
Is an AI baby generator accurate?
No app can predict your child's face. Even DNA-based research models explain only 10–20% of the variation in facial traits. A baby generator shows a plausible mix, for fun.
